This weekend, I spent more than 10 hours on a project I was thinking of for weeks now. As you might know, I am still playing Morrowind, and I am still enjoying it. Actually, I have two installations of the game: one with all the official plugins and one for experimenting.
Over the months, I have tried nearly every plugin that I was able to find. Some of them are great, some of them are not worth downloading. I have gathered app. 50 plugins now I consider worth playing - but I never had them installed alltogether. The reason is quite simple: they do overlap in some aspects. What I did this weeken is to create another plugin that corrects all the problems I have encountered when putting all those fav plugins into a game. I don't know if I managed to get all errors out, but so far it seems to work well.
Together, these plugins are something like an uberpatch for Morrowind. When I chose them, I made sure that they only add to the experience, but do not change game balance. No houses with loot, no changes to the monsters (but adding balanced new ones), no quests that do not fit into the setting. 100 MB of new content, and this makes the game a completely new experience.
I thought about putting this up for download - but only for a short while :-). It would cost us too much bandwidth. But maybe I'll compile those addons on a CD and send it out to our Friends of RPGDot (those who donate to the site on a regular basis. Let's wait and see - I'd love to do some more testing and iron out glitches I come across... |
