After a long wait, Raph "Holocron" Koster (Creative Director) continues his editorial called "Holobits".
This latest issue has -as always- been posted to the Star Wars: Galaxies forums and it deals with a broad variety of gameplay and technical aspects of Lucas Arts'/Sony's Star Wars MMORPG.

Here's a snip:

Holo, what can you tell us about the adventure aspect of SWG?

Just want to know how quests will be handled, what might generally be available, the types of quests, etc. You said in another post that we haven't had a chance to chat about adventuring yet, so I am giving you the opportunity.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, there's theme parks (big fictional quests with multiple legs, etc). And there's missions (where you get sent out into the world to accomplish a specific goal somewhere, like escort an Imperial prefect's daughter across the desert of Tatooine so she can go to summer school, or retrieve the data recorder from a crashed spaceship in the jungles of Naboo). And there's what we call points of interest, which are encounters like coming across some Stormtroopers harassing farmers, accusing them of having Rebel communiques.

POIs usually leave how you handle the situation up to you. Theme parks are like traditional quests. Missions are somewhere in between--you have a specific goal to accomplish, but what happens along the way can be (and probably will be) a different adventure every time.

Lastly, there's just plain old encounters, of course. You come across a den of smugglers and they open fire. Or you round the bend and step on the tongue of a thirsty krayt dragon...
