A fairly low rating of 64% is the result of PC Gameworld's 'The Temple of Elemental Evil' review.
It’s surprising that it hadn’t happened earlier. The Temple of Elemental Evil, from developers Troika and publisher Hasbro is a single-player, turn-based dungeon crawl in the most traditional fashion. Using more of the D&D v.3.5 ruleset than ever before seen in a computer game, the player is given a chance to explore locations that are part of RPG folklore, including the village of Hommlet, the ruined gatehouse, and the Temple itself.

The idea itself is hardly original. You create a party of up to five adventurers, using the full panoply of the D&D rules. Then they are launched into a brutal, uncaring world to win fame and fortune, perhaps acquiring some NPC henchmen along the way.
