The Adrenaline Avault has a review online of Ion Storm's Deus Ex: Invisible War with a score of 3.5/5:My only complaint about the Biomod system isn't really about them at all. At first, it seemed there weren't enough options in that area, but then I realized I was noticing the void where the skills system had been. In Deus Ex, augmentation wasn't the only way you could customize your character; there were also the skill points, which could increase your ability with weapons, improve your stealth and allow you to perform additional athletic feats. One of the revolutionary things about the original title was that it went a long way to merge the shooter genre with the role-playing one. Whether for good or ill, the removal of what I consider to be fully half the character evolution process placed Invisible War far closer to a pure FPS than its predecessor. |
