Gorasul - The Legacy of the Dragon: 5/10 points |
This game had cool graphics and music. I really liked the music, however, only 2 tracks are from the German medieval band mentioned on the back. I had a little fun playing it, for at least the beginning, then it got old really quick. All of the characters and NPC's are underdeveloped. They make little personalities for each of them and then abandon them. You meet so many in the game that none have any substance. The combat is marginally exciting but gets old later in the game. There are tons of weapons you can buy in the game and lots of items, but you probably won't use a lot of them. Your sword you start the game with has a personality and levels up with you, but I found it lagged way behind and just bought one that was substantially more powerful to finish the game. Environments are huge but empty and there's no items or things to interact with in them. Oh well. I got this game for free after rebate so it wasn't that bad. However, toward the end I was so bored I almost didn't finish it. I wouldn't recommend this game to many. |
Ultima 9 - Ascension: 4/10 points |
This game had cool graphics, especially with my Voodoo II I had because it was written for Voodoo cards and performed better with them than directx cards. Still, this didn't make up for it. Even with the patch, I found the characters and storyline to be dull and boring. The world was immense and pretty, but there just wasn't a good game there. Combat was arcade-ish and unexciting. The plot just doesn't tie in with other Ultimas (though fan patches have fixed that a bit). Basically, it just doesn't cut it as a decent RPG. |
