Gamers Pulse has conducted an interview with Disciples 2 Producer and Product Manager Pro Sotos:
What are the some of the major upgrades in the battle system? Gameplay mechanics? AI?
In the battle system units can now defend themselves, which means they lose an attack, but they take less damage. There is also a wait button that allows units to attack later in each round and an auto battle feature that lets the computer take care of the entire battle. Leaders can now be equipped with two items to be used in battle in addition to their regular attack, and this means that every leader can heal injured units, summon creatures, and use magic spells in battle and that depends on their level of experience and attributes.
In terms of gameplay the biggest change is via the event system, and this is because it allows the scenario designers to really stretch their imagination and create any type of scenarios. There are more than 15 different conditions they can test for and they can combine those with about 20 different effects.
We’ve also reworked the AI for the strategic map and in the combat system and so far the results have been very good. |
