Fallout - A Post Nuclear Adventure: 10/10 points |
At long last, an RPG that doesn't involve your typical bloody elves and dwarves everywhere. The only spells in this game are the mesmerozing affects you get when you fry someone with a burst of your flamethrower. Dance puppy dance!!
The psychotic method as you "Aim for the eyes" when you target someone for death with your sniper rifle, are yet to matched in any other game I've seen. All of that, combined with a fantastic, solid story line and wonderful, involving quests and plot-twists make this THE best game I have played to date. The ending of this game is also exceptional, it wraps up everything you've done quite nicely. Of course, the ending you get does depend on how you played the game.... Excellent replayability. |
Fallout 2: 7/10 points |
A good attempt at a sequel but not as good as it could've been. This one has "rush job" stamped all over it. You get the feeling that after the success and critical acclaim of Fallout 1, the creators thought milking the series for everything it was worth was a good idea. While it still has the great gameplay of the original, it's story is pretty crappy. What really brings it down are the movie references all over it. In fact, it's hard to talk to an NPC without getting YET ANOTHER Silence of the Lambs or Terminator reference spat back at you. As well as that, they went and screwed up the ending. Whilst the original had about 4 different ways to finish the last menace in the game, this time, you only get one way. That is: Kill, kill, kill. Why even considered putting in a quake style "End Game Boss" is beyond me. However after all that, it's still got a bit of great atmosphere in it as well as a playable story. Replayability is also there which is good. It's a pity about the overkill with all the extra weapons though. |
Fallout Tactics - The Brotherhood of Steel: 3/10 points |
Why the hell this is even INCLUDED in a poll on an RPG site is beyond me. If you like deep, complex involved story lines and GREAT gameplay, then RUN away, run away NOW!! The constant, similar missions where you "run around and kill everything" gets boring real fast. Soon, the missions just get longer and longer and you realise that all you're doing is shooting things, hoarding up on weapons, shooting again. Now, as for the storyline..... Uhhh... yeah. As a tactical combat game it's "okay" at best. |
