Let me fill you with a nice tidbit from the Morrowind forums. Here's something donutbringer has to say about the immersiveness of the game:
not to be overly defensive, but i can say that there are many aspects of gameplay that some of the dev's wish we could have put in. but we have to weigh logistics. and in all honesty, allowing for sitting and some other features that several people complain about ommission-wise just is not worth the effort it would take to implement.

i don't play PC games, and i rarely play RPG's, and i can say this...

the immersive qualities of the game are amazing.

after you take into account the quests, character interaction, the ability to take ANYTHING, the hand-made environs, the music, and the cool sfx (sorry, have to throw that in, too), i think the fact that NPC's don't sit will be one of the last things that cross your mind. yes, in all honesty it would have added a tiny bit more realism, but the effort it would take to make that happen far outweighs the supposed advantage. (i say supposed because while there will be some people who hate that there is no sitting, or may not even buy the game because they have to have sitting in their RPG's, there will be just as many, if not more people who won't ever let it bother them.) additionally, it's not something that would just take three hours to add in with the editor. it would take much longer than that. seriously. every model would have to be edited to allow for sitting on every chair type. then there's a lot of coding that i can't even comprehend that would have to be worked in so that every NPC would know how to interact with each chair. and the blah blah blah.

i've said it before, and i will say it again. i don't play PC RPG's, and i have been testing this game for months. and there is no doubt in my mind that this is by far the most immersive game i have ever played. it is crazy how much attention to detail had been paid by the artists and programmers for this game, and until you actually experience it for yourself, you won't be able to make the call on it's immersive qualities.

    maybe in the next game...
