The Entertainment Depot has stocked up on a review of SOE's 'EverQuest II'. Rating: 7.5/10.Since 1998, EverQuest has been synonymous with the term MMORPG. Ultima Online kicked off the new breed of online role-playing titles, but it was EverQuest that ended up taking the mantle and becoming the watermark that all predecessors would be judged against and strive to become better than. It was the definitive leap for the genre, mimicking life like no other game before it, comparable to when silent films became talkies; it was the pinnacle of online role-playing at the time. It was 3D, immersive, and highly competitive. Everquest 2 is a continuation of that model, and though it's arguably just an updated version of the original, I found it to be a very rich and entertaining experience. |
