Gamespy have previewed the Xbox version of Arkane's Ultima Underworld tribute, Arx Fatalis. The conversion is to the Xbox is pretty direct so there shouldn't be too many surprises in store but here's a bit from the article:While the game's combat and magic systems are both well-done, the highly interactive and powerfully immersive world of Arx Fatalis is its most impressive element. Almost every item you see, from bricks and rocks to chairs and plates, can be manipulated in some way; this isn't the look-but-don't-touch world of all too many other first-person games. You can pick plants and combine them into herbal remedies. You can raid the corpses of fallen enemies. You can even start campfires and cook gamey rat-ribs over them. (Can, and often must; Arx Fatalis, like Dungeon Master and Ultima Underworld, requires your character to eat an occasional meal or die from starvation.) |
