Massive Multiplayer.org had a talk with Peter Tyson, Community Liaison for Codemasters, the Developers of Dragon Empires. Here's a small thing from it:
How long will it take me to run from one end of the world to the other? Will DE be providing any sort of auto-run feature? Can I reasonably expect to be able to go off by myself in the world, and not be bothered, even during prime-time hours?

It is a BIG world and currently clocks in at 22x22 miles. This doesn't count the dungeons and the extra distance created by the many mountain ranges and hills. To get across the world should take you around 4 or 5 hours we estimate, if you are fairly sure where you're going and do so in a fairly straight line.

We fully expect people to be able to go off by themselves. Naturally, roads will be the focus of most peoples travels, but for the explorer there is a lot out there to discover and since our servers will probably peak at around 2,000 players, there's a lot of places to go to get away from folks, if that's your thing. I want to see many hidden locations and treasures.
