Gamehelper has their review of Lineage II: Chronicle 3: The Rise of Darkness up and running, in which they give the latest chapter a very favorable 8.0 out of 10.

And my, has the world changed. My last foray into this fantasy world was shortly after L2’s release, which coincided with an article that I’m sure even time forgot. Castle sieges were not even implemented at this stage. As they say, the world goes on, and the most recent developments involve what is called the Seven Signs Quest. Two factions have arisen, the Revolutionary Army of Dusk and the Lords of Dawn. Each side vies to control the seven seals which keep the goddess of death, Shilen, at bay. Players can join either side as long as they qualify within certain parameters, then battle within specific dungeons to collect items for control of the three seals available thus far.

To server as the potatoes to the review's meat, Gamehelper also interviewed Hyun Gyu Park, Lead Designer, concerning the current chronicle and what Lineage II has in store for the future.

Hyun Gyu Park: The Seven Signs quest was designed to be a component which users could enjoy over and over again, in contrast to many MMORPG quests which can only be played through one or two times. So it is something similar to the castle siege, but in quest format. While there are similarities between this quest and castle sieges, we thought adding an intricate, multi-part quest where the results could benefit the winners in siege operations was an interesting idea. We’re pretty happy with the result. It has brought a new level of complexity to the game and in a way can level the playing field for those who are good players but aren’t a part of a clan.
