Neocron: Not to satisfy customers (?)

A rather unusual post from Joerg "Martin" Schwiezer has popped up on the official Neocron boards. According to him, Reakktor's first goal in developing Neocron is not to satisfy customers but "to realize a vision of a game we and many people of this community have in mind." Does that make sense ? Not really, since the "many people" he's talking about had to be customers. But that's how he continues:

You, the community, the customer... the player will decide if we did a good job or not. And when you like it, we'll be able to live from the three years of work we invested into the project. However, this does not mean that our main target should be to satisfy our customers. Our main goal is to realize our vision... and you decide whether you share it or not.
