IGN has a first impressions article regarding SOE's upcoming Kingdom of Sky EQ2 expansion
The Kingdom of Sky realms are divided into three major zones with several smaller instances and dungeons found within. The first of these areas is called the Tenenburst Tangle where we got our first look at the fierce Droag creatures. The first area in the Tangle was a good example for some of the new design philosophy the fellas at SOE are trying to implement. These philosophies have to do with vertical movement and scale.
One of the first visions that players will be treated to when arriving in the Kingdom of Sky from the ground is a chain of islands floating off into the depths of sky. While not all of the islands seen from afar can be traveled to, they're all actual physical objects in the world. Part of the fun of having so many floating islands around the world is that they aren't stuck on a horizontal plane. In fact, SOE has taken this setting as an excuse to introduce vertical movement along islands. For instance, while running around, a character not only climbed up several walls, but also jumped down from one island and into a lake on one a couple hundred feet below. Forgiving the obvious pain one would feel leaping into water that far down, it's pretty nice to be able to have that sort of movement. | Source: IGN |
