Also at the Restricted Area site is news of a pair of reviews we haven't covered so far. Head to Digital Media News where the score is 8.7/10 and BonusStage, with a score of 8.2/10. Here's a snip from the latter:Restricted Area’s visuals are excellent tile-based goodness, running on the proprietary IRIS engine created specifically for the game. The character models are great, although I wish there were some way to change costumes as the game progresses. There are some fine weather effects like rain or fog in varying degrees of intensity and the use of moving shadows here is remarkably realistic. You’ll also see some great explosions from those barrels mentioned above, smoke and steam issuing from pipes and grates in the factories and even bullet holes that show up in walls. While the default graphics setting makes wonderful use of dynamic lighting throughout the game, some of you may want to turn the effect off just so you can see more of the detailed environments. Playing with the lights on makes for an almost different experience as you won’t feel so creeped out every time you enter a new room. |
