I received an email from a good friend in France, Dagon, who told me that the European version of Dark Age of Camelot is now officially on sale, and that he made a mistake in buying one. As he says, the european launch is quite a mess, comaperd with the nearly flawless launch of the US version of the game. This is mainly because some weird problems with the localisation. NPC text is either ill translated or not translated at all, and clicking on the keywords doesn't produce results most of the time. You have to type them in yourself, and in some cases, you will even have to type the english word. Other problems that occur are heavily overloaded servers and the inability to sign up.
What a pity if these problems persist, since they will ruin an otherwise rather pleasant experience with Dark Age of Camelot. After having been part of the European Beta ( they had englisg text in there), I switched to the US servers with a full copy, because most of the times I wasn't able to log in to the servers due to overcrowding. Still I think there are not enough roleplaying elements in the game, it is more a monster bashing than anything else. |
