They had a turbulent year indeed - and here's their press release:
Happy Birthday Anarchy Online
Oslo, Norway-June 27, 2002 - Today marks one year since Funcom launched its award winning massively multiplayer online game, Anarchy Online. With over 150,000 registered users to date and the U.S. PC Gamer award for best MMOG, Funcom is pleased with the success of the game.
"We want to thank all of our players for helping Anarchy Online evolve into the game it is today," Funcom president Andre Backen said. "Customer feedback has been vital to our success and we are confident that our players will see their input even more in our upcoming additions."
The Anarchy Online production team has worked hard this past year to make impressive changes and updates to the game. More than just fixing the bugs and technical issues that occurred at launch, the team has added new content such as static dungeons, team missions, and NPC missions. Because gameplay is so dependent on the player's choice of character skills and abilities, Funcom also recently offered a full IP (skill and ability) reset that was available for a limited time. Although the full reset is no longer available, all characters will now permanently have the ability to reset a certain number of points at various level stages, never offered before in this type of game.
Funcom's team is currently focused on the upcoming expansion pack, Shadowlands, which will provide players with new areas, profession specialization, new armor and items, and much more. Additional information on Shadowlands will come as production continues. |
