Gamer's Pulse is the latest site to preview Deus Ex: Invisible War and just in time to beat the retail release. Here's a snippet:
So far, the biggest thing to hit me while playing the game was the drastically changed interface the game employs. It seems that the developers at Ion Storm opted for a middle-of-the-road interface that both the PC and Xbox versions of the game could utilize, and for those who know its PC lineage, you’re likely to be irritated. The once perfect interface of the original is now replaced with an obtrusive system of on-screen menus and messages. Going through the first segments of the game when you’re given about 10 to 20 tutorial messages from how to use the inventory to picking locks, you find yourself paused to read or at least get rid of the messages every few minutes. Even the system to activate and deactivate biomods seems counterintuitive, being rather difficult to use. In the defense of Deus Ex: Invisible War and Ion Storm, both the preview and the demo are made of pre-release code, and there’s no way for us to know what changed between their release and what we’ll see in stores on December 3.
