The keep coming and coming: the next Freedom Force Thingie is a preview at GamesDomain, with some nice writing and equally nice screenshots. Here's a bit:
Gameplay is a hybrid mix of role-playing and turn-based strategy. The camera is third-person, largely from an isometric viewpoint. It can be scrolled in and out, and there's an option to allow you to rotate to temper the confusion. Since much of the action takes place among high-rise buildings, it would also be a good idea to enable building transparency.
Characters are moved around the map by clicking on the ground, either as a group or singly, with a right-click freezing the action and opening up a series of options for interaction. Within that menu, the strength of an attack can be determined, and it's possible to view just how much of your Energy-X power it will use.
The environment is gleefully interactive, and should your character be strong enough, you can wrench up lampposts as impromptu baseball bats, throw cars, and even tear down buildings - although we wouldn't recommend that one, as it ruins your prestige point score, reducing your ability to advance your character. |
