The Future of Online Gaming - Part Two

The second part of SlowNewsDay's interview with 11 game developers about the future of online gaming was posted today. Theri Question (and the answer of Richard Garriott:

    2) Do you think the industry will ever create 'Rated R' type MMORPGs that have adult content and themes such as sexuality and graphic violence? How far do you think the boundaries will be stretched in the future from where they are now?

RG: Without regard to any moral or ethical stances, absolutely! Interestingly, different cultures have different comfort levels with sexual or violent content. I'm sure there will be MMP combat games with all the blood and gore the machines can muster, very soon. Well done adult content will absolutely make huge dollars, but matching a quality (enough) developer and a willing (capable) publisher will be tricky. Frankly the adult entertainment industry has helped drive VCR's, DVD's and even the Internet.

Sex with a female ogre? No way *g*
