1) Rich "BoShek" Vogel, the producer of Sony Online Entertainment's/Lucas Arts' Star Wars MMORPG Star Wars: Galaxies has posted a progress report to the official boards, filling us in on the current status of the game.

Here's what the dev team is up to at the moment:

    1. Finalizing our base terrain for several planets (actually we have been polishing the terrain and adding a lot of variety so that everything will not look the same. BTW…I have been walking around on several planets for hours and I never get bored.)
    2. Laying out cities (we are doing this carefully so that lag does not become a huge issue when exploring large cities)
    3. Starting to script game systems
    4. Incorporating the Mocap data into the game (emotes, loco-motions – these look great. We have everything from falling down to limping to jumping with joy)
    5. Designing Points-of-Interests and theme parks (lots of areas to explore and interact with the environment (PVE))
    6. Getting combat working in our game. (Working prototype of our combat system both melee and ranged weapons. This will give us guidance on how we need to motion capture our combat sequences. Our goal is make the combat as fluid as possible over the net. If it all works according to plan, it will be unlike anything seen before in an MMO)
    7. Implementing some of the UI elements like chat, radar, combat, character customization.
    8. Implementing character customization (It looks awesome – I spent an hour just having fun making characters.)

2) Haden "Shug_Ninx" Blackman (Lucas Arts Producer) offers sort of a guided tour through the recently released SWG movie, explaining what exactly the movie is showing in certain scenes.
