The site for Ultima 1 - A Legend is Reborn has been updated after a long period of silence:

Hi again! Some time has passed since my last update so I guess it's time to tell you guys what I have been up to lately. Currently my focus is on the 3d engine again after a long break where I worked almost exclusively on the script language "U1Script" that I told you guys about last time. As I mentioned last time we needed an even more powerful 3d engine than the one we used for tech1.02 and unfortunately not much of the code could be reused from that one (except for the basic 3d stuff such as model loading, collision detection etc.) but now I'm very happy with the result and I believe the new engine is every bit as flexible as needed to both support our current game (Ultima 1) but also scale to support future games with few modifications.

To allow our level designers to get started on the final building of the tech2 and game maps I have worked hard to get some of the tools done for the new engine. The most important tool is of course the level editor itself which I now have in a first working version. The editor is made so it is VERY easy and fun to use. This will hopefully mean that exciting maps can be created quickly by our level designers but also this is a first step towards the possibility of releasing a SDK to allow players to play around with the Ultima1 engine and create their own areas and quests.

You'll have to click through from their main page, and you'll also find two new screenshots...
