Following his interview at GamespyDaily four days ago (story), Marc Jacobs has been interviewed by RPGVault yesterday. Here's an interesting question and Marc's answer:
onric: It was recently announced that over 500,000 people have played Dark Age of Camelot, which is certainly impressive. However, there are "only" 200,000+ subscribers? To what do you attribute the differential, and what steps are you taking to improve the retention rate?

Mark Jacobs: Keep in mind that over 100K of those 500K came from our Korean beta testers. Having run through 400K players but still retaining 200K of them as subscribers (in many cases for over a year) is quite good and I think puts us at or near the top of the industry when it comes to conversion/retention. However, that is not good enough for us and for that reason we are continuing not only to work on the Shrouded Isles expansion but also to continue to give our subscribers even more content as part of their monthly subscription fee. Even after Shrouded Isles launches we will still keep a full team working on Dark Age of Camelot.
