FFXI actually launched in its native Japan around two years ago; typically for a large-scale MMORPG, to a somewhat shaky start, but it was notable for being the first Final Fantasy game to debut on the PC. Any teething troubles were ironed out by the time the game was released in the US last year, where they were even given the first expansion pack, Rise of the Zilart, as a free bonus for having to wait. Now Square is gearing up for a September launch of the game across Europe. We’ll be getting an added bonus too, because the game will not only include Rise of the Zilart, but the new expansion pack Chains of Promathia.
