Macteens has kicked up a review of Spiderweb's 'Geneforge 3'. The score is 4.5/5 and here's a snippet:As with the previous entries in the series, Geneforge 3 casts you in the role of a new student training to become a member of the Shapers, a secretive and all-powerful group with the power to “shape” life into helpful creations. Before jumping into the action, though, you must first create your character. You start by choosing which of three Shaper classes you wish to belong to: the Guardians, who are skilled in combat but weak in magic; the Shapers (Members of all three classes are still considered Shapers), who are physically weak but strong in the art of shaping; and the Agents, who make strong mages but are the worst at shaping creations. You are also given several points to allocate to various attributes, ranging from essential skills such as strength and intelligence to optional ones like your ability to pick locks and disarm traps. Your choice of skills also governs your character’s maximum Health, which decreases when attacked, Spell Energy, which is used to cast spells and Essence, which is used to make creations. You are also given 5 new points whenever you level up. The choices you make here will greatly affect how your character develops throughout the game. | Source: RPG Codex |
