The Titans of Ether have started a series of developer diaries on their forums that'll feature various team members. The first one comes from Michikawa (Matti Paalanen), their lead musician. Here's a snip:
As a composer my responsibility is to create tunes which enhance the places and situations but also tunes which create the feeling that Redemption is actually a part of the Ultima Saga. This means that there's going to be many remixes of the old Ultima classics, but also new songs, which try to deliver the same feeling and atmosphere that the original scores managed to create. This is not always an easy task to achieve - when composing a remix, it is really hard to know, if you have wandered too far from the original composition, or if you are being too wary? There is no point to create an exact copy, but how to bring something new and fresh to a tune, which already carries so much feeling and most importantly is connected to memories of so many Ultima fanatics?
