Call of Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth: Game Info, Dark Corners of the Earth (Back to contents)

Gameplay
There are a lot of unique gameplay concepts in Cthulhu that really distinguish it from the pack of other titles in development, a lot of these being related to the absence of a HUD. Although the combat aspects of the game resemble the more standard gameplay associated with FPS games, there's a lot more to the game than just running around and shooting. There are parts of the game where you are unarmed and must rely on stealth to survive and complete objectives.
Interactive environment
Call of Cthulhu will features a reactive environment, including a real-time physics system that allows physical properties to be applied to moveable objects in the game. Objects in the word have varying degrees of density, and you can actually shoot some enemies through an obstacle they're hiding behind if it's something a bullet can pass through easily, like a cheap door or piece of plywood. The game will also feature realistic glass shattering, and physics controlled cloth and water.
AI
The game allows the player adapt his own style of play via an advanced AI system that reacts to the method of play chosen. Call of Cthulhu features a really robust AI system where the enemy NPCs are constantly adapting to what you are doing in the game. If you choose a more stealthy approach and avoid contact with enemies, you will have a completely different gameplay experience from the player who is running around, guns blazing. Call of Cthulhu is designed so that puzzles and objectives can be accomplished in multiple ways, so you can have a completely unique gameplay experience should you choose to play a section of the game differently the second time around.
