The Wargamer posted a report about their multiplayer experience playing Blizzards Warcraft 3. At the end of the article, they give a couple of tips for newbies.

Here is a short snip:

Just five minutes into the skirmish, my first hero was born-Balnazzar. I have a weakness for Dreadlords. I love their Vampiric Aura most of all. With this particular aura, nearby units regain a bit o' life every time they make a successful melee attack against another unit. The Lich and the Death Knight are nice too, but they're just not as buff onscreen as Balnazzar, and they don't have the Vampiric Aura, so it was he that was born first unto Azeroth. There was also a few units already waiting for Balnazzar. Creeping was soon to start.
