Blizzard is planning on the release of patches for Diablo 2 and its add-on Lord of Destruction to make the games playable on next generation Macintosh operating systems (versions Mac OS X 10.x and subsequent). The projected release of the patches is a little vague, i.e. Q1/2002. We'll let you know as soon as the files arrive.

Here's the full story:

Diablo II OS X Patch Coming
Blizzard Entertainment® today re-affirmed its support of the Macintosh gaming community, with the news that Macintosh gamers using OS X will soon be able to take up arms and join the crusade against evil.

Blizzard is pleased to announce a new patch for 2001's Game of the Year, the number-one selling Diablo® II and the record-breaking Diablo® II: Lord of Destruction™. Available for download in the first quarter of 2002, the patch will bring the blockbuster Diablo II saga, and the battle to save the world from the forces of Diablo, Mephisto and Baal, to the next generation of Macintosh™ operating systems.

Both Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction will run in Carbonized form under Mac OS X v10.1 and subsequent versions.
