This friday a 96 hour play session for A Tale in the Desert will start. Here is the full info:Citizens of Egypt,
Everyone seems to really have a good time with the extended sessions, and I've been wanting to do a big one, so we'll play:Friday, 1/3/2003 6:00PM EST (GMT-0500) for 96 hours.
I'm expecting a huge turnout this session - I've noticed many new signups to the beta test lately, which usually means a great opportunity to work toward the Test of Mentorship.
I'd like to thank everyone who wrote journals at http://www.atitd.info last session. More of you took the time to do that than ever before. As you play in this next session, you'll notice a number of little improvements inspired by the journal comments. Brick racks have been streamlined a bit, an AFK mode and animations have been added, and at least one new test will be released, all of which were suggested in journals.
In the last session I started to see the beginning of regional specialization:
The Seven Lakes district opened Mine Automation, which should save many man-hours of labor. Automated mines still collapse, but it's rumored that the pattern is a bit different. Perhaps we'll see the Seven Lakes prosper as a center of industry.
Sinai has completed research on Entomology, which allows construction of terrariums for breeding the huge beetles native to Egypt. Building a terrarium is a significant undertaking, but within reach for a dedicated player. They don't work well as guild buildings, since beetles bond to only one caretaker, and you can only exhibit beetles that are bonded to you.
Valley of the Kings has opted to research Viticulture, and Egypt's first vineyards are just now being planted. Wine making techniques are still in their infancy, but a few pioneers are unraveling the secrets of the grape. This is fitting for VoK, because they have a culture of helping greater Egypt, and wine making can certainly achieve this.
