There are six henchmen available for
hire
throughout the game. They will be located in a different
place
each chapter, and each has his or her own special
abilities,
quests and rewards.
It is important to remember that in
order
to complete a quest for a specific henchman during a later
chapter,
you usually have to complete the quests from an earlier
chapter.
You should also note that there are times when you will
NOT
be able to go find a henchman. It is wise to always have
one
at your side for those unexpected transports to new and
often
deadly places. Choose wisely.
Another important fact about henchmen
is
that they will always be ONE level below you. Even if you
haven't
used that henchman before, you can level him up when you
hire
him.
Sometimes you need to speak with a
henchman
several times and/or travel with them for a period of time
before
they will give you the 'clues' needed to do their quest. I
make
it a habit of talking to all of them everytime I come to
town
and use their responses to dictate whether or not I need
to
partner with them for a while.
Tomi Undergallows
Tomi starts out as a level 4 Rogue, with an HP of 36 and
an
Armor Class of 16. He uses lockpick and often spots traps
that
would otherwise blow off your foot or freeze you in place
while
some nasty chews on your backside. He is not the best
fighter
to have at your side, so you might consider telling him to
use
his bow.
His Abilities are: Weapon Finesse, Skill Affinity -
Listen
& Move Silently, and Sneak Attack +2d6.
Weapon of choice is the Kukri (1d6), but he also carries
and
is quite adept at the Shortbow (1d6).
You will find him at the exit of the Hall of Justice in
Chapter
One. At Kendrack's Barracks in Chapter Two.
Sharwyn
Starting as a Level 4 Bard, with 26HP and 11AC, she has a
variety
of abilites. Disarm, Bard Song (boosting you in combat),
Alertness,
Two-Weapon Fighting, and Bard Spells (great for ranged
attacks).
She uses a Two-Bladed Sword (1d8+2/1d8+2) and a Shortbow
(1d6).
Obviously, she'd seem best at melee, but she also has this
distressing
habit of dying quickly under fire.
She and the rest of the henchmen will be at the Trade of
Blades
in Chapter One. At Kendrack's Barracks in Chapter Two.
Daelan Redtiger
One of my personal favorites, this level 4 Barbarian has
an
HP of 56 and an AC of 12. Typical abilities are Barbarian
Rage,
Two-Weapon Fighting, and Dodge. The Double Axe
(1d8+4/1d8+4)
shatters boths kinds of chests with equal ease. Oh, and he
can
shoot a longbow too.
Linu La'Neral
A Level 4 Cleric, 36HP, 11AC, she is a great healer though
a
couple cards short of a deck. Abilities begin with Combat
Casting
and Extra Casting and she uses a Mace (1d6+1) and crossbow
(1d8).
Later on in the game, her offensive skills are quite
formidable.
Boddyknock Glinckle
Level 4 Sorcerer, HP28, AC12. I don't have much experience
with
him but I understand he is better later in the game than
at
the beginning.
His starting Attributes are Combat Casting, Spell
Penetration,
and Arcane Spellcasting. Weapons are Dagger (1d4) and
Crossbow
(1d8).
Grimgnaw
Starting out as a Level 4 Monk with an HP of 40 and AC of
12,
I found him to be the best partner for my fighter during
Chapter
Two. Now I have to say, this was the most difficult
henchman
for me to work with since he is SO GROSS...but in a funny
sort
of way. Some of you will want him around just for the
gallow's
humor.
He uses Bite (1d6)+2 and Crossbow (1d8).
