Gamitopia (they are really active since they started a few days ago) has conducted an interview with Headfirst Production's Andrew Brazier about Call of Cthulhu - Dark Corners of the Earth, a game inspired by the dark fantasies of H.P. Lovecraft. Here's and excerpt:
Gamitopia: Most of Lovecraft's protagonists are atypical heroes. Usually the action revolves around bookish, intellectual types, who'd just as soon hurl insults in Latin than fire a gun at you. How closely have you followed this in your design of the game? Will it require a less aggressive approach than typical first-person shooters?
Headfirst Productions: That's exactly right - this is not a first person shooter in the 'Half Life' style. There are elements of combat, but the player will find that their brain or quick thinking gets them out of sticky situations more often than their reflexes or firepower.
Gamitopia: So, who exactly do you play in Dark Corners of the Earth?
Headfirst Productions: You play Jack Walters, an ex-cop who is driven to investigate the mythos further after a rather shocking experience he went through whilst investigating a case. He is tortured by mysterious dreams and flashbacks which seem to hint at a past he doesn't remember - but you will find out more about his history as the game develops. | Source: Blues News |
