A hands-on preview of the Purge beta has been published at HomeLan. Here's an interesting snip about their findings:
Our play experience with the new beta version of Purge was a bit limited with only about four players available for our testing but there seemed to be little to no lag while we played. The experience of "leveling up" in a first person shooter environment makes the game play like no other first person shooter ever made. Leveling up in experience points can be done in typical ways through defeating opponents in one-on-one combat or destroying structures but you can also gain experience in Purge through team play, such as protecting structures or even helping and protecting teammates in a game. Although we were told the maximum number of players in a separate server is 64, that number will suffer with lag so 32 players is a more reasonable number. The server operator also has a lot more power in terms of affecting the gameplay. In addition to setting up the game and the game modes he or she can also level up or down player characters in the game itself. |
