When an official announcement begins with a line like "It comes with a heavy heart that I must announce to you the current situation with the game," you know it's not gonna be good. In a couple of weeks, all Rubies of Eventide servers will be taken down for some restructuring, and when the work is done, only one server will go back online. Additionally, only a relative handful of players with free accounts will be allowed back into the game. A Rubies fansite is tracking details on the so-called restucturing
It comes with a heavy heart that I must announce to you the current situation with the game.
I have met with the other owners to discuss the current operations, and we have made an agreement that there needs to be some significant changes.
It has come to the time now where the servers must be pulled from the co-location facility. Sometime around the 25th or 26th of February, the Rubies of Eventide servers will go offline for a complete overhaul of the system. When this is complete, only Phoenix will return under the new connection. I have halted the new account creation for the moment, as well as the billing, until we further assess our situation. However, this will probably come back up in a limited form to allow enough donations to continue at our reduced operating costs.
We are currently implementing a plan to move all active character, item, and guild information to the Phoenix server cluster. Details on this process will be released shortly.
The Phoenix server will be up for an undetermined amount of time. However, most of the Free to Play players will not enjoy the access to the game any longer. I will continue to allow a limited number of free players in, but that number is going to be significantly reduced.
Any new information will be posted in this thread by either an Administrator, or myself.
On behalf of the Rubies of Eventide owners, staff, and family, I wish to thank you all for your support for the past two years. Without this great community, none of this would have ever been possible.
