Gamers Hell is reporting that Marvel Enterprises has launched a suit against NCsoft and Cryptic Studios because the powerful character creation allows players to build characters similar to Marvel's characters like The Hulk or X-Men:
The company is seeking unspecified damages and an injunction against NCSoft and Cryptic Studios to cease the use of their characters. They also claim that City of Heroes affected their future business plans. As you know, Marvel formed a video game group which oversees the production of video games based on its characters. On the other hand, Electronic Arts is somehow involved also, as they signed an agreement with Marvel back in February for licensing some characters for a fighting game and as you probably figured, City of Heroes is a role-playing game allowing players to build characters and use them online.
Better throw Irrational into that group because I remember my nephew recreating a few of his favourite superheroes in Freedom Force.
