Console Commands

The console is Gothic's most powerful cheating device. You can use it to insert NPCs, monsters or items, make your character or NPCs invulnerable, change engine parameters, export the PC, etc.
Our table shows you the most important console commands for a gamer. If you are into modding you might want to check out the complete list included in the Mod Development Kit.

Activate Marvin Mode, press F2 to open the console, type the command.
Gothic uses German keyboard layout: y and z are exchanged, the underscore '_' is on the '?' key, for '=' press 'shift' and '0'.

Console Command	Effect
cheat god	God Mode
cheat full	Full Mana and Life energy
hero export filename	Character?s data is exported into the indicated file
hero import filename	Character?s data is imported >from the indicated file
set time	One can modify the time-of-day in the play world
kill	Kills the life form in focus
edit abilities	An editing window to change most of the Character settings
edit ai	An editing window to change some AI settings
edit focus	An editing window to manipulate the object in focus
goto waypoint name	Teleport to one of the known Waypoints
goto position x y z	Teleport to one of the known Waypoints; goto pos xxxx yyyy zzzz
insert name	Inserts things or characters into world; NPCs, Monsters, Weapons etc.
insert CH	Inserts the Character Helper
insert SH	Inserts the Story Helper
toggle frame	Display frame rate
toggle clock	Visible clock on/off
toggle wayboxes	Enable/disable wayboxes
toggle waynet	Enable/disable net of waypoints
set time hh mm	Guess.
save game	Saves your game in the first(!) slot
load game	Loads game from the first slot
