Thanks to The GameWatchers Network for letting us know that EQ-2.com has posted a technical Q&A with Jon Davis, lead programmer, Richard Baker, the client lead, and Drew Powers, senior engineer on EverQuest II.

Here's a snip:
With the high quality graphics, what will be the practical or theoretical limits of the number of characters on the screen at one time? Will there be server-side limits (like other games are doing with portal storms or reset-to-last-saves)

Richard
You will be able to adjust the rendering quality to allow larger (raid size) groups of characters to be rendered in a scene at a reasonable frame rate. We currently have no plans for a hard limit on number of characters in a zone.
