The latest Matrix Online reviews to hit are from Gamehelper and GameHeckler, who scored 8.3/10 and 7/10 respectively. Here's a clip from the first:
Whether you’re on a mission from your contact or you’re simply running through the Matrix, you’ll most likely come up to an enemy that will need to be fought. Simply right click on an enemy (their names appear in colors corresponding to their levels) and choose either “Fire!” or “Close Combat.” Fire is a long range attack whereas Close Combat is more for, well, up close. Fire can only be done when your redpill has guns in their arsenal, which can be picked up from defeated enemies or bought from vendors located throughout the Mega City. Once you have chosen either to fire or fight, the tactical console will drop down. This row of four icons gives your character different means of fighting. There is one button for each Tactic (Power Attack, Speed Attack, Grab, and Block).
