The highly anticipated third installment in the Elder Scrolls series. Not as vast as Daggerfall, but a bit straighter, smaller in areas and hopefully less buggy!
Hedek: Morrowind, but you may already know it, is a very ambitious RPG. It'll take place at Vvardenfall, an isle located in the internal sea of the Tamrielic Empire. The freedom of movements will be extreme in this world : we'll be able to choose to solve the main quest, set by the developers, or do whatever you want like trying to become the chief of a thieves guild or a physician and find remedies for the local diseases. Well, that's at least what Bethesda is promising. However, we can already judge how uncommon - and beautiful - is the atmosphere in the isle. All and all, there should be thousands of characters to chat with, trade or fight and some thirty towns and villages. These thirty may seem little compared to what Dagerfall offered but unlike it, in Morrowind, none of the sceneries are randomly generated, and each each village will have their very own architectural style.
Each home, each square, each little road will be meticulously designed, by the little baby-like fingers of an artist from Bethesda. And the result let us expect something grandiose. The architectural themes count classical villages with European-style cottages all the way to amazing cities, built, for example, on giant mushrums (propably those the designers smoke).
The shapes are never square-like but rather curves and irregular, which immediately gives such a realistic and credible feeling.
Oh and there is the Elder Scrolls Construction Set that will let you create almost anything you can find in Morrowind, very easily... doubltess enough to gather a strong community around the game. |
