Gamewatchers Network has posted a review clearly marked as based on their beta experiences. The final score is 83.88 (yes, accurate to two decimal places *g*) and here's a snip:
The players quite enjoy the gameplay mechanics themselves, but what is in the most demand is more static content on the planets, and even in the planets design itself. For while visually being very similar to what an untouched planet may look like, after running in any direction for fifteen minutes and seeing not an iota of unique design, the world can seem both very large and very empty. This lack of visual static content goes further than just landmarks on the planets though, it also continues on with quests (remember the majority of quests are generated at terminals, and are exactly the same), city design (the common buildings in cities all have the exact same design. Star ports are all basically the same, many cantinas share essentially the same design etc), lack of dungeons and more. Players want to see more developer designed static content to give the world more life than it currently has. Right now the life comes purely from the players and nothing else. This is made possible by all of the design decisions that were made in the creation of this game, but the fact is, any player that gets overly bored will simply cancel their subscription and quit. Be warned, they haven't held back on some colourful language. |
