HomeLan serves us an interviewabout Warhammer Online today, talking to general manager Robin Dews:
HomeLAN - What sort of skills and occupations will be available in the game?
Robin Dews - This is at the very heart of the game-play and so I don't want to give too much away until we are more confident about the actual number of careers and skills we'll be able to offer at launch.
In essence, what we are doing is taking something like the technology tree from Civilization or Age of Empires and applying it to a character-based MMOG. Each in-game career is a 'wrap' or container within which each player can unlock skills, which then subsequently improve with practice. The basic player careers will offer such edifying choices as: Thug, Beggar or Ruffian for the warrior types, or Initiate or Sigmar and Bright College Neophyte for the more academically minded!
Within these careers you'll be able to learn and practice abilities such as: Evade Detection, Move Silently and these skills once developed to certain levels (%'s) will give you access to more advanced careers such as Ratcatcher, Grave Robber or indeed Priest of Sigmar.
As you can see, its all very characterful and all very Warhammer…and we hope it will provide each player with a uniquely biographical 'story' of how they came to be in the world. |
