Tonight, the GAIA (Games Award for Interactive Achievement) will be awarded at the Games Convention trade fair in Leipzig. A GAIA award will be given away in each of the following five categories: PC, Xbox, GameCube, PS2 and Game Boy.

The GAIA is not an industry but a gamers' award; a game press jury chose 10 titles out of the July 2002 - July 2003 top 30 games (PC category, other platforms: 5 titles), and gamers picked their favorite out of those 10(5) games via SMS.

The GAIA award was created by the GC advisory council which consists of GC
exhibitors (i.e., games industry representatives as well as developers).
