Desslock has written an interesting article for Gamespot: The Gaming Grave, Black Isle Studios's cancelled RPG. The very detailed article tells us the story of the game, features artwork and screenshots, and brings us an interview with Black Isle's Feargus Urquhart and David Maldonado. Here's a bit from the article itself:
While Torn's plot would have been focused on a main character, that character could have acquired nonplayer character companions to form an adventuring party. Whether or not you'd be able to directly control those characters was an issue still under consideration by the developers when the game was canceled. Ideally, characters would have acted independently and in accordance with their distinct personalities, but players would have still been able to exert enough control to prevent the NPCs from becoming annoying rogues. Getting the companions to act appropriately and effectively navigate the game's 3D environments was one of the major problems the developers encountered, and those difficulties ultimately factored into the game's cancellation.
Very recommended reading for today :-)
