Moonglow

--== TIPS ==--

1) The Lycaeum
2) The Magic Shop
3) Batista's House
5) The Oracle, Tydus's House
6) Mariah's House
8) Lying Boy's House

-Wierd Sword Thingy

"There is a Shepard's tent with a Charm Scroll, a Shepard Staff and a Seeing Ball that turns into a Broadsword when used. It is NW of Moonglow (beyond the cave with the Demon)."

-Mak

-If you fall off of the Flying Boat, it sometimes gets stuck in mid-air and won't move anymore.

"Shoot some arrows into it until it starts to move again. I believe the boat senses that something (in this case, an arrow) enters the boat, and it resumes its movement. Boy was I surprised when this worked."

-Matt Jaquish

-The Flying Boat stops moving when you're on it.

"Try jumping straight up into the air. Sometimes this will start the boat moving again. If that doesn't work, try stepping to the very side or the very back of the boat. For some reason, it will usually start moving again. Sometimes it will move a short distance and you'll have to keep pacing around the boat to keep it moving. If all else fails, just jump out of the boat and resort to the previous problem's solution."

-Matt Jaquish

-Where is the Mayor?
Push the blue button at the Oracle house in Moonglow next to the north gate, to see mayor.

-Mariah's House
To get the shield in Mariah's house (6), take the teleporter that is under the trap door in the pantry. Once in the basement, there are secret doors on both sides of the room outside the shield chamber. First go into the right one and set a barrel on the pressure plate. This should dispel the second barrier. Now go into the left secret room and place a barrel on the plate in there. This will dispel the first barrier. Go in the sheild chamber and talk to Mariah (if you spared her life in Deciet) and grab the sheild.

In a bookshelf in Mariah's house, you can find a book listing all of the Avatar's companions and their home town.

-Where do I get the mantra of Honesty?
Use the floating boat to get up to the Lycaeum (1), look through the telescope in front of the book of truth at nite.

-Secrets in the Reagent Shop (2)

"I was playing around with the 4 light globes in the corners of the shop and an elevator appeared on the pentagram in the middle. You have to change the colors by clicking them.
Heres the color combo I used:

SE globe: Silver (grey?)
SW: Red
NW: Yellow
NE: Green

The elevator takes you up to a secret room with a lot of heal potions, empty flasks, and non-magic scrolls."

-Marr

"But if you click on the left wall statue while in that room, a door ahead of you opens . If you walk in this corridor you will bounce back and a guy will attack you. If you keep killing them, eventually you will be able to continue walking through a maze - at the end are a bad guy and two mini pirates. I Have not found out what to do there yet!"

-Dr. AJ Johannes

"But they're no ordinary pirates. Each pirate has the size and behavior of some other creature. There are at least four throughout the maze:
Chicken-pirate,
Dragonfly-pirate (or Bluebird-pirate, possibly),
Mouse-pirate,
Giant Rat-pirate* (I'm not sure about the "Giant Rat-pirate"; it attacked me and I killed it before I realized it was running on four legs.)

The explanation for this area clicked when I stumbled across this text by one of the designers: "And as for funny things lately... a very funny screenshot circulated at work [Origin] involving a guard that thought he was a bluebird flying around the interior of LB's castle. I have to admit there's a lot of entertainment value in changing the movement types of NPC's to make them think they're other creatures and watching what they do."

-Darrell Maronde

"I went through the maze in the Moonglow magic shop. Throughout the maze there are other creatures that have been changed to look like pirates. At the end of the maze there is a room with a large pirate who is aggressive, and a tiny pirate on a bar (also aggressive). The tiny pirate is actually a skeleton, and after killing it, it will reassemble into a normal skeleton. You can try to prevent the reassembly by finding the tiny rib cage, but I found it easier to kill it as a full size skeleton and then take the full size rib cage. There is a good prize for going through all of this... behind the bar is a glass sword."

--Brett

-How do you get the sigil for the Shrine of Honesty?
You need to use the Writ of Honesty. You get the Writ from talking to Batista (3). She gives you a quest for a Mage shield. Go to the empty house (6). On the ground floor, there will be a room that has a trapdoor in the floor. Go down, get the shield, and return it to her.

-A Really Cool Way to Keep The Shield

"Here's how to keep the mage shield without losing any karma. Don't give Batista the shield. Lure a skeleton from the graveyard into Batista's house. Stand close to Batista when the skeleton is attacking you. It will also hit Batista when it attacks you. After a couple of hits, Batista dies and you can pick up the sigil. You might want to stock up on yellow potions... "

Sagacious Dragon

--== Semi Linear Walkthrough ==--

-Spanky's notes through Moonglow.
You exit out of Blackthorn's Prison at the mouth of a cave (2). You meet Duncan. Be nice to him, he is looking for his dagger. Tell him you will help search for his dagger. Also... there is a note on the wall at the cave mouth from Raven..

"Avatar, I know you may be angry, but I've come to help. I'll drop by the docks periodically to see if I can find you."

-Raven

Grab some of that black pearl there on the beach. There is another sorcerer here, around the corner to the right with a scroll of Fog and Lightning Bolt.

Head back to the beach and swim to the camp across the water. You will find a map of Moonglow and a staff at the campsite. Head up the trail to Moonglow.

You will meet a boy (Leeland) at the entrance to Moonglow (11). He's not telling the truth at the moment (Honesty) but just take his word for it, for now.

-Mariah's House
You can get rest at Mariah's house (6) on your left as you enter Moonglow. During the day (or at some point) the room with the force-field opens up.Barrels are inside and a trap door is on the floor. The trap door reveals a teleporter. Stand on the teleporter.

You will enter a room with more barrels. There are 2 secret (hidden) doors on the the left and right wall. Move the barrels to get to them.

Place the barrels ON the floor triggers. This will reveal a shield and remove the force field to the 3rd room.

This is Maria's Sheild. Batista will want this. (explore the town at this point... going in the houses meeting and talking to everyone.)

Take the shield to Batista (3). She gives you the Writ (sigil) of Honesty.

-A Cave
To the south of Moonglow, there is a cave (1) beyond the graves... If you take the left passage with the webs and dead body.. look for the gold key. It's well hidden.

There is a pentagram here.
There's a treasure map in the cave inside a barrel south of Moonglow.

-Duncan's Dagger
To the South of the Shrine of Honesty, there is a sunken ship in the water (1). You will find a chest with the 'Arms of Magi'

Duncans Dagger is South of the sunken ship and over the hill in a cave. You will also find a Scroll of Death in a box.

Return the Dagger to Duncan (2). He will teach you a two handed spin attack

Talk to Marna (Batista's neighbor (3) and have it notate in your journal about karma.

There are some scrolls in Batista's (3) room. There is a button in the chest, It will reveal a teleporter that takes you to the attic in the 'Mage Shop of the Two Moons' (2). There is some money, a shield, and an axe there.

-Tydus
Tydus is in the Oracle house (5) (click on the signs), He's the careaker of the Lycaeum (1) (you'll find the Book of Truth here later on). He wants the Staff of Wisdom for the Mantra of Honesty. He says it's in a cave southwest (1) of Moonglow (He's not being honest at this point but follow his directions anyway.) and return to Tydus.

The staff isn't in the original place Tydus told you. Follow is next instruction. (Go to the North (cave) with a red rubie on a pedestal.) Inside you will meet the "Guardian of the Heartstone"

There is a key hidden behind a barrel here and another sits in a mouth in a carving on the wall. (You have to wait till both eyes are closed to grab it.)

When you return to Tydus and confront him with his dis-honesty, the Lycaeum will be revealed. Take the floating platform in his house up to the top. Ride the flying boat (stay on it) as it goes to each location, eventually you will make your way to the Lycaeum. You get the Book of Truth.

After the Shrine of Honesty (1) is restored. (Place the Writ and the Glyph on the stones, the mantra is 'ahm'.), return to the boy's house and rescue his father. He want his journal. It's South of Moonglow at the boat docks in the shack (4). He gives you 2 scrolls, Infernal Armor and Wizards Eye for the book.

-Finishing and getting The Backpack
When you are done with Moonglow, meet Raven at the Docks (4), South of the city. She will offer to take you to Britain, Bucs Den, or Minoc. Go to Britain if you would like to do some business there. Eventually you'll want to make your way to Minoc and Yew. While your in Bucs and Britain... Check out some places you missed.
