"Dark side of the Sword Coast" is an unofficial add-on expansion for BG/TotSC that was released initially before Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate 2. In this add-on you are allowed to gain higher levels, obtain higher level spells, encounter new and unique NPC's and creatures, go on new quests, and visit new areas.
