this is one of the worst sequels to a realy great game i have seen .de2-iw is to mutch hyped from the most other reviews out there its realy a bad game in every aspect.i realy loved the first one and its a shame that so mutch of the old style and gameplay was sacrificed to make a shitty console deus ex.

scorpion has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from scorpion)

The first game is better in many ways, but this is still a classic game.

Aron has rated 3/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Aron)

This is by far the worst attempt made at a sequel especially after all the hype around, leaving the technical bugs aside, the gameplay and everything has been diluted for no reason. great review though but the scores should be even lesser.

This is one of the best reviews I have seen. You picked up on a lot of things that other sites seem to have missed. Good job!

I absolutely agree with the reviewer on all of the subjects he covered, and would like to add a couple of points: a) The factions, that in Deus Ex were mysterious and interesting, are all just big corporations in DX:IW. This makes for very uninteresting gameplay by detracting from the mystique of the various organizations. They all seem to represent some archetype that was needed (conservatives, liberals, hatemongers and entrepreneurs) and aren't really linked to their histories except in offhand mentions ("the illuminati wants to rule the world", etc). In Deus Ex, each faction was based on a real-world conspiracy theory, making the story play out like a good sci-fi/alternate history novel. b) The conversation system is very binary in that you only have the option of choosing one extreme opinion or the other, there is no abstinence. For example, in south Medina a local man demands that you buy breathers for his kids. Your only choices are to either cave in and buy the breathers or to threaten to kill the man. There is no option to say "No, I will not buy your children their breathers". Similarily, the conversations will hinge around a single choice at the start, after which Alex D takes over and makes all sorts of remarks that the player may not have inferred from his available conversation options. At the Templar recruiting booth in Cairo, for example, you can either agree with the recruiter's opinion or oppose it. If you agree with the Templar Alex D demands to join the Knights Templar. What if the player simply wanted to avoid confrontation? This all plays into the reviewer's conclusion that the freedom in DX:IW is a farce.

This game reeks of the Xbox. The stench is overwhelming. Tiny levels, horrid performance. Warren has dropped a huge turd.

Bill has rated 5/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Bill)

Strayed too far from the origianl in every way. Too short, too dark, too.... like all the others.

a very bad sequel

mkreku has rated 2/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from mkreku)

An incredibly disappointing sequel of a first class FPS/RPG hybrid. It's almost funny how much the developers managed to screw up in this game: they took most of the cool features from Deus Ex and made them WORSE! And if it was too cool they just took them out! Just compare the ammo in the two games.. Or the biomods/augmentations.. Or the weapon mods.. They've all changed to the worse. And skills (which was the best feature in Deus Ex) were removed completely. Add to that minimal maps with horrendous loading times and you've got a 2/10 star game.

I am disgusted in every way with this pile of junk. It's a terrible sequel and even on it's own, a laughable game. There is absolutely nothing about this game that is interesting in any way, hence why there is no justifiable reason why I should vote higher than 1 out of 10

Excellent review. They have a great engine but the game is too short and to simplified. Err ? Who says "mass market" ? ( good point : they put the thief-style mantling ) Message to Ion Storm : shake your head and remember Looking Glass.

i realy hate this game !!!!

I agree with most that this game isn't as good as the original, it isn't even as good as it could have been with a little more thought/time, and that it is wafer-thin as an RPG. But each game must be judged on its own merits; to mark a game more harshly because it isn't as good as one of the best games of the last decade, or because it didn't meet each and every one of its fans' expectations, or because it doesn't fulfil conventions of a particular genre, is unrealistic to say the least. So, on its own merits... I think it's pretty good. Not great, but (while the changes are understandably disapointing to some RPG fans) I haven't found much in there that makes me dislike the game. I'm a gamer first and foremost, and while good PC RPGs tend to be my favourite games, I'm not going to turn away from other genres (or platforms). IW is a weak RPG, to say the least, and it shows some clear signs of console/PC co-development, but that doesn't bother me one bit (console-haters aren't true gamers, by the way, they're just fanboys); I think it makes an above-average action/adventure. The story's pretty good, its got some decent action in there, and there are some good opportunties for innovative play (the new physics system is a genuinely beneficial addition, even if the forces are way over-the-top - it can still be used in clever ways). Unfortunately, I never felt truly gripped by the story, and the tension while fighting or sneaking never quite got to fever pitch. To sum up: it's different to what everyone expected (but that's not a weakness and is easy to get over for those who want to), and it's good but not great. If comparisons are needed, it doesn't hold a candle to the magnificent Deus Ex, but it's still the best new PC game I've played in a while.

This game was awsome. You can replay it any way you want. The characters are customizable and there is 20 diferent ways to finish the game. I personal when throught the game and killed everyone after I beat it twice before.

What about if the name of this game wouldn't have been "Deus Ex"? An absolutely great game by itself.

KILLER!!!One of the best "console" Stealth/Action games ever. Definitely more dynamic & cyberpunk than Deus Ex 1.

No bad FPS, but not has RPG elements. Poor graphics and good gameplay. Making an universal bullet isn't good idea.
