Lionheart Item Feature 10

2003-07-28

Lionheart is a computer role playing game that is being developed by Reflexive Entertainment in conjunction with Black Isle Studios. The game is an original title which uses an updated version of the SPECIAL character development system (from Fallouts 1 and 2) in a quasi-historical medieval Europe. Lionheart diverges from traditional high fantasy by placing the player on Earth in the 16th century in which history has taken a different path and magic has been released upon the world. Using a mix of historical and fictional locations and characters, the player progresses through a deep story while advancing through the classless character system.

In this new series of articles, designers of the game will introduce several items from the game

Axe of the Feral Curse

Two-Handed. Slashing damage 6-14. The gangrenous odor of blood on this Axe tells of its dark past. The demonic runes chiseled onto the blade make it vibrate like a thing alive, and serve as a conduit between Earth and some hellish plane. This conduit will cause an additional 66 points of damage to any simple animal, such as a bear or wolf, when struck and provides 20 skill points to both Sneak and Evasion. However, this power has a dark price, and lowers Charisma by 1.

Bracers of Blessed Archery and Protection

A favorite of wielders of two-handed weapons, divine enchantments laid upon these bracers add 28 points to their wearer's Ranged Weapon skill. In addition, bracers such as these add an additional 11 to their wearer's Armor Class. (Developer's Note: The exact Ranged Weapon skill and Armor Class addition is determined by the power of the individual when found. Exact game numbers will vary, depending upon how powerful the character was when the item was discovered).

Potion of Vampirism

This disgusting broth grants its drinker the ability to convert 10% of melee damage he inflicts into Hit Points for 2 minutes in a fashion similar to the Tribal Vampire spell.
