An interview with Jan Beuck about Restricted Area has been published at RPGRadar. In this excerpt, Jan talks elaborates on the differences between the four characters you can start the game with:
RPGRadar: Depending on which of the four characters you choose in the beginning of your adventure, how will the game experience differ?
Jan Beuck: First off: Very much! Johnson for example is the only character which can handle heavy weapons like flame throwers or plasma guns. Kenji Takahashi is the only close-combat fighter due to his ability to fight with Japanese katana swords and cyber claws. He can even kick enemies with traditional martial arts techniques while fighting with a pistol or a shotgun. Victoria is the only known human with PSI abilities, resulting in magic-like possibilities like telepathy, psycho kinesis and clairvoyance. Finally, Jessica is a tech freak and the only character that can enter the Cyberspace, some kind of network where you can hack into the security systems and travel there like in a totally different world. As she is the physically weakest character, she builds herself a flying robot drone, which guards her wherever she goes.
Finally, as each character has different attribute values and his own skill pyramid with skills fitting to his background and his character they are as different as 4 people can be. |
