Jeremy "Snooker" Snook has posted the following info about Multiplayer on the Planet Dungeon Siege Boards:

Snooker - When the host starts a MP game, four options are available to set the way inventory is managed when a character dies.

    One: nothing drops.
Two: opposite of one - everything drops.
Three: just the stuff in the inventory drops.
Four: reverse of three - just the items equipped on the character drop.

Naturally, players can see how the option is set up before joining the game.

Snooker - You can drop items either on the player or the player's portrait (assuming you're close enough), and a secure trade window pops up. Both players can view the contents of the window, as well as specific stats on items. Once players have agreed to the terms of the transaction, both players must click on "Accept" to confirm it. Adding or removing items from the window deselects the "Accept" button for both, requiring reconfirmation.
