Gamespimp informs us that they have written a preview of Everquest Online Adventures, the game that takes the EQ drug to PS2. Here's an excerpt:
Travel time has been another touchy issue in massive multiplayer games. Ultima Online allowed you to mark runes at any location and then instantly teleport back to that location by casting a spell. This caused a problem with players recalling to the juicy parts of dungeons or areas and bypassing all of the danger along the way. Everquest had teleport spells that allowed you to teleport to certain preset areas to reduce travel times. Spellcasters also received a gate spell which would instantly teleport them to whatever location they were bound to(but they could only be bound to one location). Dark Age of Camelot added stables in towns where players could purchase horses. Horses moved at a much quicker rate than players could run and could be used to reduce travel time from location to location. |
